You may not like what I have to say, in fact, it may even offend you, but in my experience in nearly 4 years (3 and a half of those as a coach) in the community, this is what I’ve seen through every single guy.

Every single one.

There’s only one reason you NEED to learn pick up, and that’s:

Because you’re trying to trick her into liking you.

Yes, I used the work ‘trick’. My other favourite words are ‘manipulate’ or ‘deceive’.

You’re learning pickup because there’s parts of you that you want to hide and parts of you that you want to accentuate.

You’re giving her an incomplete picture specifically to make her like you more than she normally would if she got to know the real you.

You’re withholding the truth, you’re telling her a story, you’re hiding who you really are so that she’ll want to be with you.

Why are you doing this?

Because you’re trying to make her responsible for you happiness. You perceive that she has something that you need in order to get what you want out of life.

This runs deeper than just ‘getting’ things from women. This runs through your entire life and is at the core of all your issues. This is the reason you need to learn pickup.

The only reason you’re stuck in your head is because you’re trying to hide parts of who you are and accentuate others so that she’ll be attracted to you.

The only reason you run out of things to talk about is because you’re trying to come up with things to talk about that you think she wants to listen to.

The only reason you don’t naturally qualify is because you’re so focussed on trying to meet her standards that whether or not she meets yours doesn’t even make it into your mind.

The only reason you need to learn to lead is because you’re trying to make her get her into your life and you’re afraid that if you do lead, she wont follow.

The only reason you need to learn to escalate is because you’re trying to get her into your life and you’re afraid that if you do escalate, she might reject you.

The only reason you need to DHV is because you’re trying to impress her with specific things in your life.

If you weren’t relying on her to get what you want out of life then you wouldn’t need to learn pickup. Ever.

If you change who you’re making responsible for the fulfilment and satisfaction that you get out of life then things would be very different.

The primary thing that would change is that instead of sitting around on computers trying to memorise the next seduction secret, or out ‘in field’ trying to internalise these complex structures through practise set after practise set, you’d be out living your life for yourself.

You’d be doing activities that were intrinsically fulfilling and rewarding.

You be taking responsibility for you happiness, you sense of fulfilment, your excitement, passion, and energy.

You’d be creating a life that excites you when you wake up and leaves you feeling rewarded and fulfilled when you go to sleep. The fact that your life is full, exciting, rewarding, and incredible without her, changes everything.

Instead of walking up to women and trying to make them responsible for the happiness and fulfilment you’re looking for in your life..

..you’d be walking up to them trying to work out if they were the kind of person you want to bring into your happy and fulfilling life.

Instead of being stuck in your head trying to come up with ways to make her attracted to you, you’d freely express who you are, openly and unashamedly and see if she was the kind of person you click with.

Instead of being racked with anxiety trying to because you’re terrified that she’s going to reject you, you’d be excited for the possibility of finding someone who you really like.

Instead of running out of things to talk about because you’re just focussed on saying things that you think she wants to hear, you’d talk passionately and openly about all the incredible things that you love doing because they’re what you love.

Instead of having to try and ‘internalise’ qualification, you’d be living a powerful, passionate and free life and you’d naturally have standards about who you brought into it.

Instead of having to learn how to lead to try and show her that you know what you want in life and are willing to go after it, you’d naturally do it because that’s the way you life your life.

Instead of having to spend months and months learning how to try and ‘do attraction’, you’d just naturally be attractive.

By changing the underlying motivation that you live your life by, you’d never have to try and internalise these complex structures and techniques.

You’d never HAVE to learn pickup to have success with women. You could be real, open, genuine and authentic with women and have women be very attracted to you.

You could become the kind of guy that all these seduction methods were based off.

Am I saying that there’d be nothing you could do to change your interactions with women?

Of course not.

There’s still plenty of fun little things you can do to give her more excitement, passion, and energy.

What I’m saying is that instead of having to learn all of these different things to take your success from very poor to good, you’d be able to take your success from good to incredible.

And in no way am I claiming that changing the underlying motivation is going to make you amazing with women. It simply removes the necessity to learn the game stuff because you do it naturally.

Doing this wont make you AMAZING with women, just like memorising and ‘internalising’ all these game concepts wont make you AMAZING with women.

There’s a deeper element that has to change before you’re going to see the results that you want to. I’ll talk about that when I get a chance to write another post.

If you want be able to let go of all the learning, practising and internalising and start having real and genuine connections with real and genuine women, then this is what you need to change.

How do you change it? Well, that’s another story all together but just consider this for now.

..but the question I’m going to ask today is can you ever actually make it through faking it?

The first stop on this little journey has to be: what is your definition of making it?

It’s only once you lay that down that things really become clear. So, what is your definition of making it? What’s you goal?

If your definition of ‘making it’ is just being able to have empty, hollow and meaningless sex with women you don’t really know, then yes, you can make it.

Faking it can get you all the way there.

You can have insincere, and fake relationships with many beautiful women if you get REALLY good.

If that’s you thing, then that’s sweet. You can definitely make it by faking it. And I’m not going to judge you here.

It’s your path and you need to walk it in the way that you want. If this is you, then please don’t read on. You’re not going to get anything out of this.

It’s just going to be a waste of time.

But, if you’re looking for something more, something real, genuine, open, and honest, then no, you can never ‘make it’ through faking it. I’ll show you why…

The whole idea of faking it is to take a set of action and mindsets that you aren’t currently using and use them to replace your current actions.

When you achieve this, you’re said to have ‘internalised’ these actions.

How does that stop you from ever making it?

You can ‘internalise’ all these actions, you can pretend all you want, but at no point in time are those actions going to be your actions. They’re never going to be the real you.

They’re always just going to be a set of tricks that you use to make women like you.

Sure you might sleep with more women but if you’re looking to be able to form real and meaningful relationships with incredible women, then you’re not going to get anywhere.

How are you going to make real, genuine connections with women when you’re not being real and genuine with them?

How can they ever truly love the real you when you’re hiding the real you behind tricks?

Also, think about the kind of women you’re going to attract if you just changed your actions.

If a woman’s not attracted to you and all you do is change your surface level to make her attracted to you, what does it say about her? It says that she’s the kind of person who’s only interested in superficial things.

She’s only interested in the surface level parts of you.

She’s clearly not interested in the deeper, real, genuine side of who you are, she just likes you for the tricks you do.

If you only change the surface level to attract women then you’re only going to attract women who’re only interested in the surface level.

If you haven’t worked with the deeper core layers and learned how to express them, then you’re not going to attract women who like you for who you really are.

Do you want to be with women who only like you for the car you own?

Do you want to be with women who only like you for the money you have?

Do you want to be with women who only hang out with you because of the parties you can get them into?

Then why do you want to be with women who like you for the people you copy?

Why do you want to be with women who like you for the person you pretend to be?

Now, I know a lot of guys take this path because they don’t think they’re attractive. They don’t think they can’t be real with a woman and have her be into them.

And I know, from personal experience, that there’s definitely a part of most guys that isn’t’ very attractive to most women.

But I also know that there’s a very big part of guys that women are attracted to. It’s inside guys, right now, they just don’t know how to get in touch with it.

And this is where inner game work comes in.

This is where understanding yourself and taking control of your life comes into play. It’s about finding the part that women are attracted to because YOU’RE attracted to it.

It’s about building the kind of life that people are naturally drawn to because you’re drawn to it.

It’s about creating a life that’s so fulfilling, rewarding and captivating that you can’t help be excited and passionate about you’re world and sharing it with others.

It’s not about using tricks to pretend to be the kind of guy that women are attracted to, it’s about finding the parts of you that women are attracted to and expressing them openly.

Whoever said that you can’t be a natural simply didn’t understand what was going on underneath. You can. It’s inside you now.

And through inner game work, you can let it out.

There are some people who say that you just use routines and techniques as training wheels, and then once you’re comfortable, then you let them go.

If that’s your perspective, then that’s fine, but consider this:

What skill are you actually training with these ‘training wheels’? You’re training the skill of lying to people. You’re training the skill of trying to manipulate people.

You’re training the skill hiding who you really are and reinforcing the idea that you’re not an interesting enough person to be worthy of talking to these people.

Lets say you spend the next 6 months using these training wheels, what have you actually learned through this time?

That people are going to talk to you only if you have though up some interesting things to talk about before hand?

That attractive women are scary and dangerous creatures who you can’t be real around? Is that this kind of skill set you want?

Is that the kind of skills you really want to internalise?

Before you start on your journey, stop and work out what kind of future you want. Then you’ll know which path is right for you.

So, how do you attract more women?

It’s a good question.

And before you try and answer it, you need to know about the are two different paths you can go down.

Neither one is better or worse – they’re just different with different sets of benefits and draw backs.

And before you go on your journey, you need to decide which path do you want to go down to attract more women into your life.

Path 1: Pretend to be someone you’re not just so people will hang out with you – The Pick Up Artist (PUA)

This is by far and away the most popular path because it promises so much in the short term.

The PUA path involves simply learning a bunch of lines and/or seduction techniques and then using them to try and attract more women.

You could literally learn something to say to women today and then walk out the door and apply it.

Sound good? Well, hang on a second there.

There’s something that they don’t tell you.

If you just change what you’re like on your surface level, what kind of women are you going to attract?

Shallow women who’re only interested in your surface level characteristics.

If you just change your surface level, what kind of relationships are you going to have? Shallow and meaningless relationships.

If you just change your surface level, how long are these women going to stick around? Just long enough till they find someone who’s got a shinier and prettier surface level.

Does that sound like the kind of life you want?

Lying to attractive women and hiding who you really are, just so you can have meaningless short term relationships?

That’s as much as I can help you with on that path, but there is another way to attract more women.

Path 2: Find who you really are and what you stand for and find those women who are attracted to you for who you really are – unlocking your potential.

This path doesn’t get anywhere near as much attention as the PUA path.

It’s not full of lines and quick tricks you can just throw at women and hope they’ll come running..

..it doesn’t allow you to hide behind more and more layers of lies, it involves you finding your true self, breaking apart the layers that you’re using to hide behind, and letting it out.

It involves being real with people.

And that can be scary.

I was scared when I first started but I knew it was the only way. I wanted a life filled with people who I really liked and who liked me for who I was.

I wanted a life full of attractive, real, genuine, loving and caring women and men who I could be real, and genuine with.

I wanted a life full of people who I could laugh with, play with, go and hang out with – without having to worry about what I should say or who I should be around them.

I wanted to be me, I wanted them to be themselves, and I wanted to have the time of my life.

Sure, I wanted to attract more women.

That’s a no brainer.

But I wanted to attract more women who I could make real connections with rather than just use for meaningless sex.

I wanted to attract more women who I could actually have a real conversation with about the things that were important to me, rather than just having to tell someone else’s stories to keep her amused.

So before you go down this path of trying to attract more women, ask yourself:

“What kind of life do I want to build?”

I think the path you choose will be obvious.

And then I had this little epiphany.

Why was I choosing THIS movie?

I’ve seen it a billion times already ..

I can quote from it freely, and it’s not like the plot is going to reveal any new surprises for me when I watch it this time.

And yet here I was, about to spend 4 bucks of my hard-earned dosh on this particular DVD. So why this one, and not any one of hundreds of other fresh, new titles available for my choosing?

Then I remembered the words of a dude called Frank Kern .. who once said:

“People get addicted to characters who represent their desired outcomes.”

Which is not something I thought about very much .. until recently.

It makes sense, though. We don’t rent movies for the action, the explosions or the sex scenes.

I mean, that stuff might capture our attention on the surface, but unless there’s a meaningful character that’s doing all the action and explosions and the exposing of the flesh, we may still watch it..

..but we won’t be hooked on it, watching the reruns, hiring it over and over on DVD and memorising quotes just so that we can say it in an appropriate moment AS IF WE WERE that character.

So it’s not the activities that grab us – it’s the character.

It’s not the “WHAT” he does – it’s the “WHY” he does it.

But not every characters appeal will appeal to every person – I’m pretty sure there’s a reason why fans of Rocky Balboa do not lose much sleep is they miss an episode of House.

So this is the theory, as it stands for now – the characters you get most addicted to are the ones who represent the qualities you WANT to possess.

Or, to put it more provocatively, the qualities which are missing from your life.

An example?

Take your typical English-speaking geeky male teenager who is in his last year of high school.

To this guy, the world is a confusing, scary place. He probably can’t stick up for himself very well and he has been ridiculed a number of times by “the cool kids”.

He would love some kind of omni-powerful badge of status which would reverse the situation.

What more could you want than being able to stand up to the football jocks with perfectly-timed witty comebacks..

..wield infinite power with your own personal robot, plus get a super-hot girlfriend who you never thought was in your league?

Transformers captured imagination of so many young adults not just because of the CGI or whatever..

..but because Michael Bay knew exactly who has audience was, what they wanted, what they fantasised about at the deepest level, what their biggest aspirations and most enduring frustrations were..

..and he told that tale of “weak becomes powerful” to perfection.

You could extend that argument and say that big movies of the time capture the aspirations of the audiences that they’re made for. They act as balm on wounds of the society’s psyche, if you will.

There’s a reason why Rocky and Commando, for example, would not fly as well today as they did back in the 80’s..

..the characters in those stories fed what was mainly the Cold-War era craving for a belief that the “good” Western man can defeat the ill-defined “bad” other force despite the unfavourable odds.

When the nation is concerned with flexing muscle, demonstrating might and being powerful but not necessarily clever, the heroes of its movies will reflect that.

Dr House, MD is addictive to young, professional college educated people not because they care much about solving medical puzzles..

..but perhaps because he combines an ability to speak one’s mind and stand up for what he believes in with a total lack of concern with “what people think” .. and he seems to get away with it.

In the age when “political correctness” has eroded our ability to essentially be ourselves – especially in professional environments – is it any wonder that House is so addictive to those for whom that repression is most palpable?

Californication .. well, at the centre is a guy who is deeply flawed, doesn’t even try to attract women and yet has beautiful women hitting on him left, right and centre…

…DESPITE his flaws and his apparent lack of interest.

Is it not the dream of a man in his late 20’s or early 30’s – who has been told repeatedly that he has to “self-improve” and “put his best foot forward” around women and people in general…

.. but all he truly wants is to come to terms with his flaws and just relax and not have to prove anything to the world – and yet still have an abundance of women in his life?

What does all this have to do with attracting women, Steven?

Good question.

Here’s what I want to ask now – does all this mean that to make a woman addicted to your “character” you should strive to represent the end desires of a woman you want to attract?

Let’s assume that to be true for a moment..

So, what does the woman of your dreams want .. in life and in a man? What is missing from her life?

Well, if you want to attract a woman who feels incomplete without a high-status man with lots of money, you could spend the next 10 years of your life trying to collect badges of status.

What? You don’t want that woman? You don’t want a needy girl, I hear you say? Hmm, OK. In that case, what do you give to a woman who doesn’t NEED anything?

Well, just because she doesn’t NEED anything doesn’t mean she doesn’t WANT anything.

Perhaps you want a woman who is whole, but who nonetheless WANTS a man who is also whole – and has a life of his own and doesn’t require her to be his mum or a pretty symbol of validation?

Well, if that is the case, then you probably realise that to attract such a woman, the first thing can do is become a kind of man who doesn’t need women to be happy and fulfilled.

P.S. So what does my addiction to The Thomas Crown Affair say about me? A hidden ambition to become a 42 year old successful loner who “enjoys” women? Who knows ;)

A chap even emailed me a few weeks ago, saying that he has tried every dating product under the sun and it hasn’t worked for him.

His conclusion: women are only attracted to rich (and tall, according to him), men.

And no amount of dating advice was going to change that universal law.

I’d actually like to believe that theory – because I’m taller than most guys.

So according to that theory, I’m already half-way there. Sweet!

(And if I can just get rich, I’ll be 100% sorted, right?).

Thing is, I’ve met my share of tall, rich men who are very good at REPELLING women. As I’ve met plenty of short, poor guys who attract more women than they can handle .. without even trying.

To make things more complex, I’ve also met short, bald rich men who also attract women with ease.

Last, but not least, I’ve known tall, poor men who do pretty well with girls. So, what’s going on? Am I biased in some way?

Or is there something deeper going on?

Let me offer this perspective:

Maybe it’s the attitude that certain rich guys have which actually MADE THEM rich. And it’s that same attitude which attracts women to them.

It’s the attitude they have to life which is “CAUSING” richness and women, so to speak.

And most people who make the judgment of “heh, look at that hot girl on the arm of the rich guy” make a false attribution because they look at what’s only on the surface.

Having met a few guys like these, I noticed one common element: they live their life for themselves. And I don’t mean that in a hedonistically selfish sense like:

“I don’t give a shit about anyone else or their well being”…

But rather, in a “empowering selfishness” sense of “what I do every moment of my day I do because I enjoy it, not because it gets me approval and validation from others”.

A lot has been written about The Secret and all that jazz, and on that level it makes sense: if you life your life GIVING validation, you attract the same and create a world of abundance and joy.

If you live your life NEEDING validation, you create a world that is a black hole that you’re trying to suck people into, and they struggle to cut loose.

I see SOOOOO many guys running around using structures, routines, and lines to desperately try and drag a woman into the kind of life that the guys don’t want to be part of..

..and then those guys are wondering why they’re not attracting women. They figure that if they just have enough stories to tell, they’ll never have to show the woman how desperately dissatisfied they are with their lives.

If they devoted all this time that they’re spending on learning structures and methods into actually making their life the kind of that the woman of their dreams desire to be part of..

..then they wouldn’t have to bother with this stuff!

And I’m not talking about having a life that’s ‘good’ or ‘alright’, I’m talking about GREAT. And it’s not as difficult to achieve as you might imagine.

I’m talking about living your life in a way that’s deeply rewarding and fulfilling.

I’m talking about living your life in a way that means you can freely give love to all those around you without ever having to ask for anything in return.

If you did that, how much of your life would you have to hide behind lines, routines and structures?

Yes, I know there’s guys out there who don’t live their life like this and are getting success with women.

Or are they? How much choice do they have in their life? And how much choice do you want?

Are they fulfilled because THEY GOT a shag last night? Or do they shag every night, because THEY ARE fulfilled? And what do you want for yourself?

You might say that there are guys out there who have their shit together and still are still in the seduction community in hopes of learning how to attract women..

..but lets take a look at the whole community here.

Out of everyone you know in the seduction community, how many of those guys are the ones who wake up in the morning, excited for what they day is going to bring them?

How many of them talk with passion and excitement about what they’ve got coming up? How many of them freely and openly express their deepest passions and desires?

And you want to know why you don’t know any?

Because they don’t need the seduction community.

They’re the kinds of guys who women want to be around. They don’t have to learn this stuff to have women in their life because women desire to be part of their life.

I’m not saying that by getting your life handled that you wont get benefit out of changing or tweaking one or two things.

What I’m saying though is that you wont have to spend time learning techniques to hide how you really feel.

Instead of having to learn things to stop you being so far behind other people, you can learn things to help you take you in front of them.

So, Man the fuck up, take responsibility for where you are right now and where you want to go.

Create the kind of space that people desire to be part of because you desire to be part of it. Make your life the kind of place that excites you every morning, and then see just how much ‘game’ you really have to learn.

But I must clarify: it’s not a “secret seduction technique” or whatever, so please do not adopt it as such.

If you approach meditation as a means to a certain end (attracting girls), you will be disappointed.

It is not a magic bullet of seduction.

But it just so happens that the practice of meditation helps get you outside of your analytical mind..

..And that is a very useful skill to have if you, say, are standing in the middle of a busy bar on a Saturday night, hopelessly stuck in your head.

Power of focus developed through meditation can help you get “unstuck”. Plus it can also ensure that you don’t get so “stuck” in the first place.

Since many of you may not be too familiar with meditation, I thought I’d give a quick run-down of a few different varieties of meditation.

That way you can try them all..

..and find one that works for you.

Since meditation works best when continually practiced, finding one that you actually look forward to doing can be half the battle won.

Unless otherwise stated, the following are to be performed sitting either on the floor, or in a chair. Lying down isn’t so conducive to the process.

If you find that your back and\or pelvis gets sore sitting on the floor, try elevating yourself by sitting on a cushion (this can take the pressure off).

Century Count.

This one is pretty simple, but can be challenging to complete. All you are doing for this exercise is becoming conscious of your breathing, and counting each breath until you reach 100.

If you forget which number you’re up to, you have to start again, aaalllll the way from the beginning.

Don’t worry, if you don’t get there the first few times, we’re not trained to focus on a task so intently for that period of time.

I personally enjoy doing this exercise as part of my morning routine as I travel to work, which can be very challenging with all the noise.

Basically this exercise really helps me focus with laser like precision throughout the day.

Mindfulness.

This form of meditation is somewhat of an observational form of meditation where you become “mindful” of everything occurring in the present moment:

Your breathing, your bodily sensations, your thoughts, the sounds surrounding you, the texture of the moment.

The aim is to not get caught up in the goings on, but to separate yourself and simply observe everything, even your thoughts.

Visualisation.

This form of meditation is a little difficult to do on your own, but there are some great audios around that can guide you through the process.

In Tantric practices, the practitioner would meditate upon the vision of themselves as a deity, or the most enlightened being they knew, and simply contemplate with that image in their minds eye.

Breathwork.

This seems to be one of the most common forms of meditation, and it simply involves becoming conscious of your breathing, and focusing on each breath as it enters and exits your body.

The aim is to maintain all focus on the breath and not get caught up in the noise of your thoughts.

Quite often you may find yourself drifting off in to thought, which is fine, you just simply bring yourself gently back to your breath when you notice that you’re caught up in your thoughts again.

Meditation With Feeling.

This practice really spun me out, and it’s something I’ll try from time to time. This meditation was recommended by David Deida in his “Way of the Superior Man” teaching sessions cd’s.

The meditation involves “meditating” or sending your awareness outside of your body. To try this, begin with the breathwork meditation, then send your awareness 10 feet in front of you, then 10 feet behind you, 10 feet below, and 10 feet above.

It’s a real head-spin, but quite unique.

There are many other forms of meditation, but I really only try to speak about things that I myself have experienced. If you’d like to learn more: Wikipedia and Google are your friends.

the only place that matters:

Inside yourself.

Here are some questions you can ponder to start that process:

- Do you like your life? Or not so much?

- Do you like YOURSELF? Or not so much?

- Do *YOU* influence your actions? Or does opinion of others influence your actions?

- Do you know why you wake up every morning? Or do you just follow a routine you “fell into?”

- Do you come home after work feeling exhausted, spent, but fulfilled? Or tired, wanting, and hollow?

- Are you worried about not leaving this world a better place than you found it? Or are you worried about how to make others think better things of you?

- Don’t believe the “gurus” who tell you that chanting some affirmations like “I love my life and I’m awesome” is going to make you into James Bond.

..and it showed me something about attracting women that I was aware of, but never considered when it came to being in shape.

I don’t if you’ve seen any of the videos I’ve made (I don’t know why you’d sit through any of those lies ;)

…but I work out. And I love doing it.

I love seeing just how hard I can push myself, how much progress I can make…

When I’m lying under a bar, or it’s racked on my shoulders, and I’m trying to lift more than you ever have, there’s nothing else.

No thoughts about work, no thoughts about what shopping I forgot to do on the way home,it’s just me and the bar.

Oh, and yes, it’s very attractive to women :-) There’s no denying that.

There’s no denying that well sculptured biceps, or shapely shoulders make you more attractive to most women, but is it really necessary?

“I’m not attracted to you because you’re strong, I’m attracted to you because you choose to be strong. It’s because you choose how you want things to be rather than letting things be chosen for you…

..It wouldn’t matter if you weren’t strong because you would still be choosing how you want things to be rather than allowing things to be chosen for you.”

And this comes back to core message that we’ve been teaching here at the Attraction Institute: attracting beautiful women isn’t about what you do, it’s why you do it.

It’s the underlying mindset that’s important.

Sure, having a great body will help you attract women, but it’s not just the body that really gets them, it’s what that body says about you.

It says you’re willing to stand up and go after what you want.

It says you don’t let the world push you around. It says that you have the strength to be able to change your world into the world you want.

It’s says you’re a Man.

But you don’t need a great body to say this to women. It comes out in everything you do.

You can communicate the exact same message to women through how you act, how you walk, what you say, what you do, without ever lifting a weight.

It all comes down to how willing you are to step up to the plate and take control of your world. It all comes back to your inner game.

You can basically do anything that you want around women and still get amazing results.

All the rules are bullshit.

As long as you are choosing how you want your world to be in every moment.

The question is, how willing are you to step up and create your world in the way you want?
